ANXIETY

Learn how to befriend your anxiety

According to Beyond Blue:

3 million Australians are living with anxiety. Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. 1 in 4 people will experience anxiety at some stage in their life.

You’re not alone.

Humans have a tendency to villainise anxiety. What if instead of looking at it as the bad guy, we chose to befriend it, listen to it, understand where it is coming from and unravel when it is actually serving us and when it is not?

Whether you have been diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), live with the fear of experiencing a panic attack, struggle to make healthy connections due to social anxiety, have specific phobias or have anxious feelings about your health and the climate, I can support you in overcoming the debilitating effects of anxiety.

I achieve this through a unique integrative approach that combines Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and mindfulness skills. These strategies will empower you to trust yourself and grow beyond your self-limiting beliefs.

GRIEF

Navigating life alongside grief

Grief is a universal human experience, it’s an emotional response many of us will face a myriad of times in our lives because the truth is as humans it is inevitable that we will experience losses; ones that result in bereavement and others that don’t: either way they leave their mark.

Problems can arise in grief when we avoid feeling. The key thing with processing our grief is that we must feel it in order to move forward. Without this, grief can show up for us through depression, anxiety, substance abuse and chronic physical health issues.

We all grieve uniquely, there’s no right way. I don’t believe grief is a linear process, that leads to “acceptance”, “closure” or “moving on”. Instead, we adapt and do our best at moving forward.

When it comes to grief I see you, I hear you and I know I can support you by providing you with a safe space to feel and navigate how you will evolve alongside your grief.

Testimonials

For privacy purposes clients chose a pseudonym that describes how they felt after a session with Anika.

  • "I met Anika consumed with fear and darkness from my own thoughts, my life felt hopeless and me worthless. With Anika's careful guidance I was able to ground myself, refocus the power of my thoughts and turn back towards living life with more confidence and less fear. Anika introduced me to some simple but solid techniques to continue this in the future. Our sessions were relaxed and productive, even over the phone as many of my sessions were; due to my circumstances. I am extremely grateful for her calm and peaceful disposition and thank her for being truly authentic."

  • “Anika helped me understand my anxiety/depression better and how to manage it on a day-to-day basis. During our sessions I unpacked my childhood trauma and she taught me how to get my power back as a woman as well as how to be brave and courageous. I felt a lot lighter and happier afterwards, like the world had been lifted off my shoulders. I always felt safe with Anika, I feel like I have grown more as a person and understand myself a lot better now. I would recommend my family, friends or anyone who needs a counsellor to see Anika because I learnt a lot while we worked together.”

  • “Anika helped me tremendously with my anxiety. I was able to identify where my anxiety was coming from and I felt very comfortable discussing very personal issues with her. I was given strategies to use which were certainly very helpful. Over time, I developed more confidence and less anxiety. I am able to move forward a much happier and relaxed person.”
